Celebrate #GivingTuesday with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra!

Looking ahead to our NEXT 40 years, we ask for your help to achieve our mission to increase the appreciation and awareness of jazz, during what is promising to be challenging times for nonprofits.

While we have grown our Educational Outreach programs over the past few years, there are still too few opportunities for students to experience jazz in a wider, and more interactive, setting.

The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra seeks to fill this void by launching a new, non-competitive jazz festival this spring—a day dedicated to performance, education, and inspiration for students ranging from middle school to university level.

Through this initiative, the CJO continues to strengthen its role as both a performing and educational institution—bridging professional artistry with meaningful mentorship. Together, we can inspire the next generation of jazz musicians and ensure that this uniquely American art form thrives in our schools and communities.

    The Songs of Hoagy Carmichael

    Saturday, January 24th

Our 10th annual collaboration with The Musical Theater Project celebrates the songs of Hoagy Carmichael. A jazz legend, Hoagy composed (and often wrote lyrics for) a beloved chapter of the Great American Songbook besides writing for many films. Just think of “Skylark,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Heart and Soul” and the Oscar-winning “In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening.”

  • Event poster for 'Clubbing Unchained: Django and the Duke' featuring Reed Simon playing violin, date March 20, 2026.

    Django and the Duke

    Friday, March 20th

We intertwine the remarkable early brilliance of Duke Ellington at the Cotton Club with Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli's “Hot Club of France.” Violinist Reed Simon will help us create the “CJO Club” for an evening with infectious grooves and great arrangements.

  • Event poster for 'Woodstock '26–Sly, Santana, and Janis,' featuring Mary Bridget Davies, scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026

    Woodstock '26

    Sly, Santana, & Janis

    Friday, May 1st

The Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969 has still proven to be the most seminal gathering of rock, blues and jazz fusion in popular music history, and countless outdoor festivals try to emulate this vibe every summer. With the help of Mary Bridget Davies, we celebrate the sounds of Sly, Santana and Janis as we create our own jazz infused Woodstock experience.
