Coming Soon...
Without music, life would be a blank to me.

While there are some great opportunities to catch the CJO live (as well as livestreaming) this month and next, we are also planning our official return to the stage for our 37th season, starting in November.
2021-2022 Season
The 2021-2022 season will feature amazing artists who all hail from the Midwest but who have traveled the globe. We will be joined by an artist who has recorded with David Bowie, a Pulitzer Prize jurist, multiple Downbeat Award winners, inspiring music educators, bandleaders, composers, as well as fabulous Northeast Ohio musicians. Once again, we will be partnering with The Musical Theatre Project for an in-depth look back in time. And we will have a season home!
Watch your inbox, as well as our social media channels, for the official announcement of our season line-up, as well as details on season subscriptions and how to buy tickets!
Many thanks to all of our fans for being patient during this challenging time.
We are looking forward to sharing a memorable season of music with you.
JECO needs your help!
Ohio’s state jazz education organization is JECO (the Jazz Education Connection of Ohio). This group was founded after the International Association of Jazz Educators folded in 2008. The President of Ohio’s IAJE chapter at that time was CJO’s Executive Director, Scott Garlock, who, along with several other outstanding jazz educators, realized there was a void left by IAJE’s demise, which inspired them to form the JECO, with Scott as its first President.
The most visible activity that JECO does annually is the Intercollegiate Jazz Ensemble, which performs at the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) annual conference. Many CJO band members have taken part in this all-star band over the years, and it is certainly one of the highlights of the biggest music gathering in our state each year.
JECO also created a "Jazz Educator Hall of Fame," the Hank Marr High School Jazz Award, which has sponsored free music, free advice, free educational resources, and has served as a way for directors and musicians to spread the word about their performances. And, each year, JECO sponsors a number of helpful pedagogical clinics as part of their partnership with OMEA.
Like many organizations, COVID hit JECO particularly hard, and they need our help. Newly elected JECO President Zach Compston indicated that JECO’s biggest needs are:
A chair of the intercollegiate band - someone who will communicate with directors; coordinate auditions, selection of band members, rehearsal, gig; etc.
Administrative assistance - someone to take minutes at meetings, assist with promoting JECO membership and the JEN (Jazz Education Network) perks, etc.
JECO is interested in your help, no matter your level of expertise. JECO would welcome any recent graduate or current student interested in helping further this valuable non-profit’s work. Please contact Zach at: zacompston@gmail.com, and THANKS!
