"The Gershwins on Broadway" with The Musical Theater Project

The Musical Theater Project and the CJO team up for our annual crowd-pleasing collaboration, celebrating the Gershwins’ contributions to Broadway, with a mix of history, songs, and videos.We’ll be joined by vocalists Treva Offutt and Evelyn Wright!!

 
 

Treva Offutt

Treva Offutt is a visual and performing artist, educator and arts administrator. She has had the honor of performing with NYC’s the Urban Bush Women, Belgium’s Remote Control Productions, Mexico’s Choro Tajin, Ireland’s Daghda Dance Company, and India’s Adishakti Theatre Company. Locally, she has enjoyed performing with Karamu House, Dobama, Mamai, The Musical Theatre Project, Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and Ensemble Theater. She taught drama and dance at Laurel School and directs musicals for Heights Youth Theatre. Treva is a proud graduate of RISD, a member of SAG/AFTRA, and the new director of education for Playhouse Square. Enjoy the show!

 

Evelyn Wright

Evelyn Wright has been a professional vocalist for over 35 years with experience in jazz, R&B and pop. A native of Cleveland, she was voted Best Female Vocalist in 1985 in conjunction with WCPN and won the 1993 award for Most Promising Female Artist and Favorite Female R&B Singer from Midwest Urban Music. She has toured throughout the United States and Canada, performing in the top hotels, nightclubs and concert halls, and performed for First Lady Rosalyn Carter. Mayor Mike White officially recognized her for the entertainment she has given to the city of Cleveland. Evelyn has recorded an acclaimed CD, My One and Only Love, with Jazz Alive, and she has been a featured artist many times on TMTP’s Song Is You! series. Evelyn can be seen and heard all over town at Cleveland’s best jazz venues.
